  1. If you are determined to have some fun next weekend, head to Okku in The Monarch Hotel in Sheikh Zayed Road. But please, remember to make your table booking, else prepare yourself to be disappointed. That is what came of us folks who left it to the cosmos to grab ourselves a nice table on a friday night. We had to wait at the bar for an hour, and then leave with Mojitos gurgling in our tummies- no food. The place is grand, chic, and incredibly noisy with chatters, laughters and clicking glasses! It is fun all the way. They say Okku serves THE BEST Japanese food in the whole of Dubai. It is too soon for me to judge, as I couldn't try it. But the bar experience was all positive. While you are torn between watching the crowd (wonderfully dressed and diverse), you also want to watch the mini aquariums behind the bar with jellyfish floating around (psychedelic!). Cocktails were on the lines of AED 50, Jack Daniels were on the same lines as how much you would pay in Irish Village. The bartenders are WIZARDS in what they do, they cheer you up, and let you in on their secret techniques to make a drink! On the whole, it was a fun night minus the table and lovely japanese food. Will be back for more of Okku!!

  2. Great place to go! Food is really nice and i recommend the passionfruit coctail. Gets really busy on a sunday, with the "it" crowd of Duabi hanging out there. Definitely worth a try if you haven't been.

  3. I attended 2 birthday dinner parties here and both were such an experience. I love the food, great ambiance and music is the best. The waiters are actually very friendly and I love their cocktail drinks.

  4. Not a bad place at all. Sunday nights are crowded...good with friends, and they try hard to please here which is highly commendable. Just two things.. STOP IT with the guy walking around in the open neck shirt playing the saxophone, its been really over-done in Dubai and its cheesy beyond belief...secondly...calm down on letting in so many waxy faced 40+ aged men from DIFC in pin strip dinner jackets and "mom jeans" in...its spoiling the place a tad....especially when they limpet mine the bar and it takes 30 mins to get drinks in.

  6. Was there last night and was shocked at how busy it was at 10pm. Amazing crowd with a higher female to male ratio which is rare in Dubai. I also like the refurbishment at the reception.
