Wonderful America. You bastion of corporate greed and standardised blandness.American-Chinese food is a blight on our culinary landscape. Granted there are some good American -Chinese Restaurants around. I have eaten in a few great American-Chinese restaurants in NYC and DC. But these are generally run by 1st generation immigrants who take dishes like General Tso's Chicken and elevate them by making them more Chinese than American.I have a confession to make. I have been to PF Changs 4 times in the past 1 year. Not out of choice, well except for the first time. After trying pretty much half the menu (Dynamite Shrimp, Spring Rolls, Minces Chicken with Lettuce, Mongolian Beef, General Tso's etc etc etc), there is only one conclusion you can come to - Dynamite Shrimp is exceptional. Everything else is over loaded with sodium and corn starch and needs to be shoved down Mr.Chang's gullet until he begs for mercy. This is the worst of the "paint by numbers"/assembly line restaurants from America. If you have to eat there, stick to the Dynamite Shrimp. Just order yourself 2-3 plates of these and don't eat anything else. Just not worth the money you are paying for it, so it is expensive for what it is.One of the great mysteries for historians a few hundred years in the future will be "How did such a place become successful and were people forced to eat here?"
