The good, the bad, and the ugly. I actually give it 2.5 stars, not 3 but the system won't let me so 1/2's. And this is being generous. Giving it the 1/2 because they do Cobone deals which are the right price.
I've been going to Bikram Yoga ME for several months, and what started out as a fantastic studio has come spiraling down in the past few months. I went in with very little knowledge of the practice and have learned so much through different teachers that have passed through the studio - and there have been many.
The good: The studio is appointed nicely and is clean, although I'm wondering if they still mop the floors after class as they used too. Each student always gets a locker and towel for free. First timers get a mat for free, after your first time you have to pay for mat rental. They do many Cobone deals. They now have a "spa", which seems like an odd thing to put here, but the massage is nice. Haven't had one of their facials, but there is no water in the room which makes me wonder how it's done properly and hygienically.
The bad: Things change like the weather. From the teachers, to the room temperature, to the timings...there is NO consistency. The online schedule says one teacher but you show up only to find it's another. Studio is rarely at the proper temperature. The owner used to have such passion for the studio and her students but that has diminished tremendously.
The ugly: I understand when a new business opens one has to figure out what works for clients, but come on! The hours have now been changed because of "high-value" clients? What's that about. You don't value all of your clients? The 4pm is now gone, if you miss a morning class you have to wait until 6pm for the next one. The most unfortunate part is that they now have an UNQUALIFIED "instructor" teaching at least 2 classes per day. From what I understand this person is the sister of the owner but that shouldn't give her a pass to teach, especially when she doesn't know how. I feel bad for the first-time students who take her class, don't know what they are doing, and are being taught incorrectly. Part of this practice is to let go and de-stress, but sadly I come out of her class more stressed and irritated than when I walked in. I'm no expert but I have come to learn when the dialogue and timings are right. She does neither.
I don't try to take her classes but unfortunately as mentioned above, the teacher on the schedule is not always the one who shows up to teach the class.
A few months ago I would have rated this studio 5 stars, but can't give it that kind of rating anymore.
