Bapas has recently changed its name to Brussels Belgian Bar & Bistro. Located on the ground floor of The H Hotel (just inside the main entrance), this little spot was surprisingly good. It has a nice warm feeling inside, with dark wood tables, ambient lighting, and unique decor. I assumed the food would not be much more than pub grub, but it was decidedly more upscale than that. We tried a few of the "bapas", which I can only assume is short for "Belgian Tapas", because that's exactly what they were. We tried the Belgian fries with 3 different dipping sauces, half pot of mussels in cream sauce (which was actually huge, enough for 3 easily), home made meatballs with tomato sauce and potatoes, panko fried shrimp, and calamari. Everything meet or beat my expectations. They also have a good selection of Belgian beers as you would expect, including Leffe Blonde and Leffe Brown, Hoegarden, and Stella (of course). Overall, good food, good service and good ambience. Absolutely worth checking out.
