Hala Taxi

I almost exclusively use Hala Taxi for my about Dubai transport requirements. The cars are the black and white ones you see around town and are in pretty good shape internally as they are all new cars and so far look to be maintained really well. Hala Taxi is part of the RTA so they come under the same quality assurance when you place a call request. Bar a few occasions when it appears they have been flooded with transport request in peak times, they generally arrive about 10min from the call which is pretty good! I live in the Jumeira area which seems also to make a difference as we are close to a few supermarkets and shopping complex's so I think the cars pickup the calls relatively close by. The drivers have always been neat and tidy and seem to know all the places I wanted to go which is pretty hard to get in Dubai. It's not perfect but so far pretty happy with the Hala Taxi service.

Hala Taxi

After living almost 7 years in Dubai and coming across the most unruly taxi drivers.. Today was a new experience which left great respect for taxi drivers again. For a change I experimented a new cab service called "Hala Taxi". A very polite and courteous driver called Asad Khan (HTC 061) drove us back from an event, not only did he come out to open our doors but also suggested us alternative route to avoid paying the Saliks. He was merry, enthusiastic and quite passionate about his job. My whole family was quite surprised to see such positivity coming out of some one at midnight hour. I hope RTA gets to read my note and rewards this hardworking guy. Well done Hala!

Hala Taxi

Hala Taxi's is the latest batch of special vehicles catering to passengers who have booked taxis either by phone or online in Dubai. I actually didn't even know about them till one rocked up at my house to drop me off to work this morning. They launched on the 1st of November so they are a nice little ride. Mine still had that new car smell and they don't look so bad either. I asked the driver if he had a towel to wash my hands with but he didn't get the pun and off we set! Me: JLT please. Driver: Where's that? Me: You're not serious? Driver: I'm new. So, had two newbies in one day. Very special indeed. The driver had been in the country for as long as the new service had been launched but that new car smell just had me in a great mood and the driver was proud as punch to be behind the wheel of a new car and most likely in the glitz that is the Dubai sandpit. I even got a call from the depot asking how the new service was and i gave a glowing report. Someone should make a perfume with the new car smell...it does wonders.

Here's the spiel "borrowed" from the launch, "The dedicated service of cars will relieve existing taxis from responding to the on-call service and will not cater to passengers at the roadside. Operated under the RTA's new Dispatcher 8 system, the Hala service will charge a basic fare of Dh6 during the day and Dh10 at night. The black or white cars will be equipped with WiFi, Nol and NFC payment system.

Overall a great start to the morning!
