Fabulous, casual yet elegant food in a lovely airy mod setting that feels as sophisticated as anything you'd find in London, New York or Sydney. Probably because it comes from Australia, where ironically Jones the Grocer is not nearly as successful. It's the non-hotel places like this, Pantry, The Archive and Pavilion Downtown that make Dubai exciting for me. As with Pantry, service can be a bit chaotic. In March, I had a broken wrist in a huge splint, so I asked for the chicken on my couscous salad to be thinly sliced by the chef. It arrived as a huge hunk of meat, was taken away with a sigh only to reappear 20 minutes later, cold. By that time my husband had finished his lunch. Not a great experience but will almost certainly return.
