About this business

Before visiting the newest of JBR’s seemingly limitless restaurants, I Googled it. Turns out Condé Nast Traveller readers had voted the Istanbul branch of Turkish chain Kosebasi as one of the world’s top 50 restaurants. I don’t think the JBR outlet would garner such acclaim. Don’t get me wrong: there were good points. The decor was eclectic, with Mediterranean-style tiles adorning the table tops and curved ceiling hangings sheltering us from above.

I have been to this place a couple of times, lovely turkish dishes, I'm never afraid to try out something new. All the dishes have a great flavor. I love the fresh juices these guys have in the menu. except the mint drink mixed with something unless you really like it.

Friday morning & I'm in search for a cure of my hangover. JBR walk was spectacular spectacular and this place was the only one beaming with outdoor empty seats. I pass by this place like 20 thousand times & finally gave in to have a try. *Let's skip the ordering part. My lamb was orgasmic & the bread they have dipped into hommous was amazing. Now, for the disappointing part. The "manager-ish" guy standing at the entrance was some kind of robotic statue. Doing nothing. I was alone & my ordered arrived like 30 mins & when i asked for my bill..nobody was there to attend you.i got my bill & thank god i got the exact dirhams to pay or i will just shoot myself (pointing my finger gun on my head).

Had a late dinner here last night. Perfect for a big group as there appetizers are great for sharing. If you have any Iranian friends - take them here. The name means something really funny in Farsi :)

I had my first Turkish coffee at this place and my friend yell at me at my epic fail : "Sky !! Don’t stir the coffee, turkish coffee is not supposed to be stirred! You’ll disturb the coffee sediment from the bottom!"..but still I do have my new favorite dip-which-is-not-really-a-dip – sundried tomatoes and walnuts marinating in garlicky olive oil.
