First time here and found Okku to be somewhat annoying. I did not come for dinner so we stood around the bar which is tiny and was severely crowded. There is no real space to hangout at the bar so being squashed all together and having people bump into you was not my idea of a great time. Plus this place is so smokey when I got home I definitely had to wash my hair. Yes Okku is a happening cool place but if you do not have a table and are just coming for a drink I would think twice.

An expensive alternative to Zuma.....I prefer hanging around the bar enjoying the beautiful scenery...yes, drinks are expensive but don't forget it's a hotel and it's a trendy, cool place. The food is usually excellent but Zuma it is not......

Danielle said it best, "Best sushi in Dubai". I can't agree with her more and here is why. It is just not sushi you are eating, I feel every dish they work so hard to create to make it look so pretty. They look so good you hate to love to eat them like the spicy tuna on rice or the spicy rock shrimp. I know a lot of places do black cod like Zuma, Nobu or every other Japanese restaurant in town but these guys do an exceptional job.

The service is always good and so is the atmosphere, definitely not your quiet dinner place. It is a little pricey but I feel the food and service justify it so it's ok. The only negative thing I can think of is sometimes it can get a little smokey and if you have to go to the bathroom it is a long walk. Other then that I love you Okku!

Tiffany I would recommend basically anything on the menu. Spicy tuna is amazing and any of their sashimi plates are excellent.

If I could only eat one dinner before I died it would probably be at OKKU. And here are a few of the dishes I'd order: Edamame; their version of Ohitashi (spinach & sesame); Maguro (tuna) carpaccio with crispy onion; Spicy Tuna on crispy rice; Unagi nigiri sushi; Beef tataki with truffle; Crispy duck salad; Black cod roasted with miso. When I'd finished, I'd probably order the whole lot again. It's really that good. The prices, considering the portion size, are totally insane, but somehow you never feel ripped off because the atmosphere is great and the people-watching is cool. That's something you just don't get at, say, Tomo in Raffles, sadly. I ADORE Zuma and Nobu too, by the way, but Okku beats Nobu for atmosphere and Zuma for the finesse of the food.

Every bit of the food is worth the steep prices! The quality of the food be it a starter, salad, main course or dessert reflects through the taste. It is a spectacular place, with a great ambiance and perfect for an occasion or just to treat yourself. We were a party of 2 and spean around AED 1000 for a Bottle of Wine and Chill-Garlic Edamame, Duck Salad, Wasabi Rock Shrimp, 2 Plates of sushi (salmon and tuna), Black Cod and the Chocolate Fondant. I liked everything about this place and had no complaints whatsoever.

The quality and service were both excellent! I would go back at any given time, or very so often; however, the budget limits one. Although it isn't very affordable for everyone, this elite place serves the best quality for its price and is worth every penny.

I would recommend it for all!

Lovely Chicken Yakitori and Angus beef with rice. Service is good but it can be made more attentive. Best Miso soup I have ever had. Fabulous ambience. Expensive but this is value for money.

So I went to Okku the first time this Valentines day and I really don't want to make this review too long: Guys, if you want to take a girl for a great dinner/date... go to Okku. If all I wanted was to find reasons to slander the place.. I'd be rendered mute. Brilliant experience!

The Wine Coinoisseur event at OKKU was a fabulous culinary journey through fantastic dishes (from foie gras to tempura shrimps, lambs to delicate sashimi, caramelized aubergines to chocolate fondant) complemented with hand picked Italian wines . A fantastic experience which I highly recommend! a great success for OKKU.

Good food, nice service and excellent personal atmosphere. Very expensive but would go back as most of the alternatives are also pricey but not as consistent on the food quality.

Great Food and staff, but the place is Not. Smokey and foggy specially on big nights. Not the greatest music (gets too loud as well).

Delicious food but WAY too expensive. 45dh for a bottle of water and 86dh for a glass of the cheapest wine. The spicy tuna with crispy rice was amazing! Loved it. Seaweed salad was good. Baked Aubergine was great. Cod was good. Very very good place but no discounts available. It had a great feel to it and the jellyfish tank was cool.

I haven't been back to OKKU in about a year to eat and let me tell you the food really is amazing. I came back on this past Sunday (for all the guys out there lets just say it is pretty much a cat walk in there) for dinner and drinks and had a great time. Hands down the best sushi in Dubai not to mention all their other creative dishes like their wagyu beef, alasken king grab, and black cod. Sushi wise it is perfect , right off the boat and super fresh...I also like the fact they do not serve Toro. You can not go wrong with the food here but you do pay for what you get and it is expensive. You have to remember OKKU is a super club so at around 12 they turn into a clubish place and crank up the music. So basically at 12 they turn the tables into club tables and bring out the booze. I was pleasantly surprised at the dj during dinner was playing his own remixes of 80's and 90' which was nice instead of house. At 12 the house music does start to flow though and everyone is dancing and having a good time. If you are looking for dinner and drinks in the same venue this is the place to be.

I haven't been here in about 5 months, but from what i remember i loved it as a restaurant, but HATED it as a club... Mainly because it was disgustingly overcrowded and the prices were a bit unreasonable. The Bouncers were descent people tho, but the music was too typical and can't remember anything special happening...

Went to Okku for dinner with a group last night. I hadn't been in a long time and I had forgotten how good the food is! The tuna tartar (pictured) was so delish. The duck salad was amazing as well. We only planned to have dinner but the music (and the lychee martinis) kept us there a lot longer. That's the great thing about Okku - you can expect the unexpected.

I came here for the first time last night and had a really good time. I did not know what to expect food wise because all I hear about this place is how fun it is but if you have not eaten here you have got to. We just ordered a bunch of sushi, sashimi, and some other stuff I forgot the name of and it was excellent. So far the best sushi I have had in Dubai. Yes it is pricey but it is well worth it. After dinner we stayed because this place turns into a true clubish club. Definitely packed with a lot of people drinking, dancing, and having a good time. The only negative point is that it does get pretty smokey in here but overall I had an amazing time and will definitely be coming back.

The only other super club I can think of in Dubai is Jambase, which these 2 are totally different. You come to OKKU to dress up, have an excellent meal, and then enjoy the night after with your friends listening to one of their resident or brought in DJ's. I really like okku because you can come here and then party here, you don't have to hop in a cab and go somewhere else. It can either be for a chill night and some drink, if you don't stay too long, or a crazy night if you stay longer. The food is amazing too, if you like sushi then you will love it here.

I hadn’t been to Okku lately but went for a light dinner the other night and really enjoyed it. I forgot how fantastic the food is! Comparable in quality to Nobu or Zuma, but I think it’s a little bit cheaper. We went for edamame, a couple salads (sashimi salad is excellent, the dressing is citrus-y perfection), some dynamite crab legs and a typical selection of sashimi that tasted anything but. The bar area was quiet, but most tables in the dining area were full. It was a great atmosphere for dinner since it can get too loud for conversation even in the dining area when the bar is packed. I think Sunday and Thursday are the best nights for the bar, but the food is amazing every night! Now that I’ve “rediscovered” this place, I’ll be back again soon.

Beth You forgot to mention only to go to the bar if you're superficial and hate yourself. Oh- wait- I mean looooove yourself. And have nothing interesting to say. :)

Very girl-friendly where you can grab trendy Japanese grub with your girlfriends while sipping on a well-made cocktail or a decent glass of wine. Sunday and Thursday get uber crowded with the pretty people of Dubai but worth going out to always run into old friends or make new ones. Pet peeve is the chain smoking all the smokers seem to compete in once there which can make people queasy fast especially since it's not a big space. Feel sorry for the pro staff who have to breathe it in every night!

AmandaDXB Totally agree, whenever I leave my hair is ruined and I just stink. They should really up their air filtration thingy or something.
