A friend and I stayed in this heritage guest house for 3 days last year. Located in Al Fahidi heritage village, close to the XVA Art Gallery, this romantic place captures the feeling of old Dubai. Rooms in this former home surround a central courtyard; each is styled with carved wooden headboards, some with canopies, plus delicate chandeliers and velvety-soft jewel-tone fabrics. The overall atmosphere is pure tranquility. We had a room in the first floor which we enjoyed, as it is quieter than in the patio (where people eat breakfast) and you can make use of the terrace. The metro station is about 10 minutes away from the hotel which is totally fine, however most of the time you'll need to take a taxi to get elsewhere (which is normal in Dubai as there are only two metro lines). There is a nice cafe just around the corner and 2 min away from the creek, the heritage village itself is very quiet when we were there. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Orient guest house, the staff was really friendly and helped us with making reservations and organizing a desert safari. This placed is a nice alternative to the big mainstream hotels in Dubai. We'll definitely be back.
