About this business

The restaurant is crammed with sculptures, paintings and the odd nautical-themed bit of kitsch.Dining in Piccolo Mondo Bay is a feast for all the senses. It is a lush earthly Paradise; your own private land of three dimensional fine Art created by the charasmatic owner, Zaki Al Obaidi.

Everyone who has reviewed below is right about the food. Stay away at all costs. However, I recently discovered that they are open and serve shisha 24 hours a day. As someone who is highly susceptible to jet lag, this has become my go-to place for shisha after 2:00 a.m. I actually like the crazy art and decor outside; it's very unique to Dubai. Grab a couch, ask for a blanket if it's cold or if the seats are dusty, and enjoy a late night shisha and Moroccan tea. Not my first choice by any means, but when it's late, you can't go wrong...

This place really has one of the best locations in the Marina and they reaaaally took that advantage to create the weirdest place in the Marina. Apart from all the hideous decor, the overpriced and terrible food, the slow service and the smelly furniture.... well the sheesha is alright.

As I made my way to our table, I was overwhelmed with the quirky interiors that seemed flooded with little tid-bits of everything from art to very intelligently placed TV's. I quickly prayed for the service and food to be decent. Never the less, food was terrible. So was the shishah. It took them 45 minutes to even take my order! Another 20 for it to get to me. Unreasonably, they charged us a 100 dirhams because we cut a cake from Magnolia's !!! That's a 100 dirhams to use a knife and a few plates! Would NEVER go here, even if they paid me to!

I used to live in the same building so was excited when it first opened, however as a non-shisha smoker, the excitement soon died off after a culinary disaster. I ordered a chicken caesar salad, what could possibly go wrong? Well, I was presented with a 50 Dhs bowl of rubbery chicken, chopped tomatoes, cucumber all drenched in mayo. The strawberry milkshake was just as bad, 3 squirts of milkshake syrup and some milk for 25 Dhs. Massive opportunity wasted here, all that is needed is a small food menu with dishes they can cook properly, like sandwiches and pizzas.

Used to come here alot before the other shisha cafes on this strip opened up but then stopped when it started to resemble a saturday morning flea market/car boot sale. I feel itchy and dusty just walking past this place now - in fact you can barely walk around the marina because as The Dangerous Blonde rightly points out - the clutter and seating has now submerged onto the entire walkway. I wouldnt come back here ever again because of the clutter - it conflicts with my OCD way too much. Food and shisha is just ok albeit expensive compared to neighbouring cafes although i dread to think what the state of their kitchen is like judging by the look of the rest of the restaurant. The only thing i would recommend here is that the owners get some serious dettol and clorox and give the place a deep clean and get rid of the clutter. Less is more after all......

You don't come here for the food - an odd mixed selection of cuisines from all over the world none of which is any good. I also think the owner has a hoarding complex because the originally cute and quirky artwork selection has spilled outside into a chaotic and random pile of junk that clutters up the entire walkway and is questionable in its artistic quality! It is also expensive compared to the other cafes on the same stretch. Shisha is OK but there are about 6 competitors within spitting distance who charge half. I hope the owner ditches most of the junk and brings back the fun and unique vibe that made this place popular in the first place. And gets a new chef.

Met the owner here last night. Apparently, he owns all of the artwork which you find throughout the inside and outside of the restaurant, and none of it is for sale, which I thought was interesting. The menu is huge with Arabic, Italian, and Thai sections. It also seemed expensive. I had an order of fetuccini alfredo for AED 65. To be fair, it was enough for two people... Shisha was just ok. Not worth the price difference when you can get it for AED 20 or 25 in any of the other places nearby...

Walked to this place for a shisha yesterday. Quite an eclectic place with all the strange "art" all over the place. Was very nice to sit near the water of the marina in the late afternoon. Shisha was decent at AED 40, but honestly, any place could be successful in a location like that. Nothing to write home about, but I'd go back for the convenience and Marina views.
