As a Scottish person, I was intrigued to hear that there was a Scottish bar in the Ramada Jumeira so went to check it out. I was slightly disturbed that the barman asked my friend's wife for ID (the insinuation being that he thought she was a prostitute) but she thought it was age related so I let it slide to avoid a scene. Anyway, I was most intrigued to see what Scottish food they had. There wasn't much. Salmon fish cakes, Black Angus Beef Ribs (with no bone???) and Scottish Fries (which were French Fries with nacho cheese on top, served with a jug of gravy). Not a haggis in sight. They had a good whisky selection and some imported Scottish beer, but they were out of stock of the iconic Scottish soft drink Irn Bru which is rather unforgivable. But probably just as well, they were charging 20 Dhs when you can get the same can for 3 Dhs at the gas station along the road. I very much doubt I'll be back.
