  1. Their fruit salad is a huge serviing for 12 dhs! All seasonal fruit, all well cut and in good quality. Their fresh water melon and pineapple juice is very good too. I don't like carbonated drinks much, so I prefer fresh juices instead. They are very costly so I recommend this place for a more affordable plate of fruit salad or a cool glass of fresh juice.

  2. It's very popular back home. My husband likes traditional food, so I asked him to take us there to buy some kulfi, milk based icecream. Reminds me of home when i buy stuff from them. If you would like to try some Pakistani traditional icecream, try kulfi, especially if like my husband, you like a bit of sweet something after dinner.

  3. If you are looking for authentic kerala cuisine, look no further. Situated in the Lulu hypermarkey Ghusais Food court, Next to the Stadium Metro station, Salkara is one restaurant which has never served me old food. I am regular visitor for the last 5 years. Although Salkara does not experiment with new dishes very often , it somehow is able to serve the same taste almost every time.. I would like to know how they do that :) The waiters are friendly, the menu is kind of explanatory, however check with the waiter if you need more clarification - is this spicy or extra spicy ( what other option do you have for south indian food).... Do taste the freshly prepared appam (its a treat to watch the live cooking station, and the way the appam is prepared - compare to watching a live pizza table), Do taste the Payyoli chicken fry or the Sheri (Fish) mulagittathu.... Last piece of advice : Avoid visiting on thursday or friday nights... you probably would have to wait quite a long time before you get a table.. any other time is ok :)

  4. I received my complimentary subscription to AAA Road Assistance (GOLD), when I renewed my car insurance through Rakbank - Oman Insurance. Must I say that I am thoroughly pleased with myself I chose AAA.... here's why... On 3 occasions during the last year, I rang up their help line, and they reached me within 40 minutes and helped me out... Here are the 3 embarassing moments I had on the road during 2011 in UAE 1) I ran out of petrol on shaikh zayed road! (Yeah, really!) , Helpful AAA truck carried my car to the nearest petrol station. Thanks a ton. 2) My tire ran flat at dragon mart . I couldnt change it myself, because .... it was too tight? or I had changed tyres myself just about twice before... voila! AAA arrives and changed it for me, whilst i waited in his car :) 3) My car battery died in Qusais right infront of VLCC... and just wouldnt start. AAA to the rescue again ..... Jump started my car ... and offered me a new battery... In all 3 cases, help arrived within 40 minutes. Thoroughly pleased. Very friendly service. Remember to keep your membership card in your car and quote it when you call their helpline.. .its much easier :)

  5. I am a repeat customer for the Motor Insurance product from Rakbank and am certainly satisfied with the services offered by Rakbank and their sales person , Mr. Rafhath. Their radio ad campaign on 103.8 Dubai Eye drew me to this ALL ONLINE motor insurance renewal program which is quick and easy.... Overall a smooth process, fill up the details online, get the quote via email, receive quotation, sign, scan and send cc details, receive the motor insurance at your door step.. I chose the AAA gold road assistance from Oman Insurance which Rakbank offered, and I used it thrice during the year..... Thank goodness.... If you intend to renew your car insurance online in UAE, look no further.

  6. My grocer for the last 5 years ... Lulu hypermarket Al Qusais has never let me down when it comes to my weekly grocery purchases. A very well kept place, helpful staff, and have a good variety to choose from. I get more vegetables at Lulu than from my home town from where it is imported :) The department store at the first floor oscillates between three offers throughout the year - buy 2 get 1 free OR 50% off or half back.... Electronics was the weak area which is now beefed up with a larger floor space, and quite a lot of promotions. They took back and replaced the modem I purchased twice -- no questions asked -- because i did not like it. Never expect such a behaviour from Carrefour. Although yes, you cannot beat Carrefour prices for computer consumables :) The store is very well kept, well lit, clean, and has 40 odd cashier check points at the ground floor, which is very good. The department store at the first floor can be crowded.... My only advice --- Avoid visiting on thursday and friday. You would barely be able to walk amidst the crowd. Visit during any of the weekdays :)

  7. I have to agree with DreWerd7, go check this place out!! It's really close to Zuma, the interiors are somewhat similar to Zuma as well, but it has a slightly different them. Both restaurants have been fitted out by AMBB interiors and they are well know for their quality in the construction of only the nicest bars, nightclubs and restaurants. If you like steak, this is either 1st or 2nd place for the best steak in the UAE. Hefty price tag, but what do you expect from a high quality establishment in Dubai!?

  8. All I can say is.......amazing!! Great sushi and the whole menu is worth trying. I took my in-laws to Zuma back in November, both didn't like sushi, but once they tried some of my wife's and my dishes, they were converted to true sushi lovers!! The only thing is that, well, you get what you pay for. It's hella expensive, but I have never been dissapointed with the quality of food, atmosphere, etc. Bring a phat wallet if you plan on getting stuffed!

  9. I have to disagree with Ronnie. I have met the owners and one cook and both of them are from Sicily. The pizza is excellent, probably one of the best in Dubai. The lasagne and tiramisu is definitely worth trying as well. However, don't get this delivered, it's the worst in the world once it show up to your door. Don't know why, but I will never order again! Only dine in!

  10. I had ordered a delivery of a capricciosa pizza and the calzone. The pizza was ok, but my wife had to put it in the oven because she felt the dough was a bit chewy. The calzone was good, but I've had better calzones at Pizza Pazza(near MOE) and Eric Kaiser's(Dubai Mall).

  11. I don't play golf but my husband is getting into it now so I guess I will have to bear with it. Had lunch at spikes. They have good servings, but quality can improve. So much chunky meat is a bit hard to digest for me. Maybe smaller portions......hmmm.....

  13. They have such a wonderful collection of artificial flowers one can buy to liven up the living room, with glass and crystal vases available to put them in. A bit pricey, but the sales are good, and the quality is so good it's money well spent.

  14. They have very unique things like fancy cake moulds and all kinds of stuff like chocolate fountains, classy picnic baskets. They hold cake decoration classes in their Jumeirah road branch. I bought quite a collection of designer crockery from them that I like to buy one piece at a time as it's fun to have some crockery for tea just for myself, as a service for one.

  15. Had my daughters tenth birthday there some years back. Still have the plate they gave her with her hand print. Great place for a mum daughter bonding. They have good food too, different types of sandwiches and salads - I like their tomato soup and Greek salad, but I don't go for the food. I went there so my kid and myself could sit and paint masterpiece ceramics. :)

  17. You like Indian food? Head over to Mall of Emirates fashion dome and try out Asha's. The owner Asha Bhostle is one of the best singers India ever had. You can't go wrong with food choice at her restaurant. Everything is excellent. Great decor too.

  19. They have amazing things! Very different decoration ideas, some traditional, and some just really cute like little handbag mirrors or picture frames with matching candlestick holders! Their line of products by the name ADORE is just fantastic. For the price the finish of the decoration pieces is just awesome.

  20. I love love love their classic chocolate chip cookies. No one can convince me otherwise. They have cookie cakes that are so adorable that you can just frame one and keep it. :) The staff is putting icing on the cookie in full public eye so you can stand and admire as they create a perfect spongeh bob square pants or a happy mothers day cookie cake. My favourite is "best dad ever" which my husband gets only after he has fulfilled a few promises he made to the kids but didn't get around to them just yet.
