    La Clinique ME

I had a really great experience at the newly open Polyclinic, La Clinique in JLT. I went in for teeth scaling, polishing and whitening and I felt like I was at a friend's place. As it has just opened, the friendly owner is there and you can tell service, quality and first impressions are extremely important to him. When I arrived, I filled out the standard forms, then I was given a tour as he explained the concept and the many services they offer.

Dr. Raneem who is head of Dental at La Clinique was the dentist I saw. What I really liked about her was that she explained each process, was thorough and gentle. I appreciated the fact that she took the time to tell me not only what was happening but also why. If you're looking for a dentist, I highly recommend Dr. Raneem. They also have a nutritionalist and a dermatologist on board along with visiting doctors from EU and USA.
I felt really comfortable there and will definitely go back again. No one really enjoys going to the dentist but for me this was as good as it gets.

They currently have a grand opening special offer - give them a call to find out what's included in the offer.

    Restronaut

Restronaut is a dining concept started by Leith from MAKE Business Hub. The idea is to arrange groups of people for dinner who share a common interest. You can browse the tables on the website and purchase a seat at a certain table. For example, they have a weekly table hosted by food blogger Tala Soubra of Fork it Over and if you'd like to join her table, you create a profile, upload a photo, add a blurb about yourself, pay and show up on the night. It's an excellent way to meet new people in Dubai and Restronaut creates a menu with different restaurants that offers great value. You also have the option of hosting your own table and Restronaut will add it to the site and promote it. My company hosted a table a few weeks ago and it sold out. We met some interesting people and had a great time. It really is a unique concept that's definitely worth checking out. www.restronaut.me

    Mahiki

I had not been to Mahiki in a while and was there last Thursday. I forgot how smokey it gets. I washed my hair and it still stank like smoke. Music is mostly commercial - before I remember it being a mix from the past 5 decades. The crowd has gone down a bit - strange mix of weird people. Drinks take a long time at the bar so it's better to get a table with bottle service if you have a large group. I'm not rushing back to Mahiki anytime soon, but still think its fun when you're with a fun group.

    Fazaris

Fazaris is located on the ground floor of the Address Hotel. I had a lunch meeting there today and was pleasantly surprised to learn they have two menus - Italian and Japanese. From the name, I automatically thought it was going to be Arabic style food. The Japanese menu was introduced about a month ago and it's actually decent. The sashimi salad is fantastic. The tuna and salmon literally melt in your mouth. We also tried 3 different types of rolls which were all good. I also ordered from the Italian menu and tried the burrata - I have a burrata addiction at the moment. The burrata was great - I would say it's at par with the Bussola burrata, however the burrata at Fazaris was a lot less expensive at AED 82. Apparently they will re-name and re-launch Fazaris so watch this space.

    Bussola

I have found the second best burrata in Dubai! LPM takes the crown but Bussola is not far behind. It was a quite warm sitting outside last night so go and visit this outdoor terrace restaurant before the summer heat hits. The Bussola pizza is good but I think it's the truffel oil that takes it from good to great. Costs: AED 140 burrata, AED 82 pizza

    Comptoir 102

Comptoir is a French owned kitschy cafe located in a villa that sells home decor, jewelry and unique items. For example they have hand made bags from Colombia for sale. It's called Comptoir 102 because the villa no is 102 on Jumeirah beach road. The food is mostly organic and is super healthy with an interesting menu. For example they have beet root soup, baked portobello mushroom and feta cheese. I had the tuna avocado pita (AED 45) which was good. Their fresh juices are yummy too but pricey. AED 25 for a small juice. It was busy today and the inside seating is limited so I recommend booking on the weekends.

    Pelle Capelli Ladies Salon

Pelli Capelli is by far the leading nail salon for quality. I decided to try their little hair studio today after my mani/ pedi. AED 80 for long hair wash and blow dry and she was fast. I was finished in just under 30 mins. Will definitely come back again.

    25 Degrees North Restaurant

We had 25 Degrees North deliver lunch to our office today. I was really surprised how good it was. and how organized they are. (See delivery box pic). We ordered a lot of different dishes but what stood out the most was the Bhindi Do Pyaza, Dal Makhani (good for dipping butter naan) and Dum Ki Ghobi. The quality was above standard and it tasted clean. We will for sure order from them again.

    theflowershop.ae

A beautiful bouquet arrived at my office today from The Flower Shop and thought to share them on Yadig. I looked at their website and the site is easy to use with great imagery. Seems really simple to place an order. As I haven't ordered from them, I can't comment on logistics or service, however the quality and presentation is definitely 5 stars.

    Bikers Cafe

OMG THE WORST BREAKFAST I have ever had!! Please take a look at the photo and tell me what looks good about that? Here's the run down of my Bikers Cafe experience: 1.) First impressions - it's packed which is a good sign but can we get a table? I asked a waiter to help us and he basically said to just find an empty table. Ok, he's busy, no problem. 2.) Find a table, sit then get told to move as it's reserved. No reserve sign, but ok, we move. 3.) Find an empty table next to where the waiters punch in their orders, and near the kitchen, ask if it's free and sit. 4.) 5 mins for a waiter to bring us menus even after waving/signaling the menu sign 5.) Place order with waiter and wait...wait...more waiting. Watch manager and head chef yell at staff. Staff very confused. This place is chaos 6.) 15 minutes later and voila this (cold) breakfast comes out. I was already turned off from this place just by watching their operation and vowed never to come back after receiving this pathetic breakfast. If it had of been AED10, I wouldn't complain but the bill for two breakfasts with two OJs and a hot chocolate was AED145. Should have gone to IHOP.
