Sir Bani Yas Island one of the reasons why I went to Jebel Dhanna.A nature reserve only guests of the Danat resort could get access to visit the island. There is now an Anantara hotel, Desert Islands Resort, on the island itself but guests of the Danat resort are still allowed to visit at a cost of Dhs 250 per person. We had the tour like in an African safari-style open-sided jeep. Inside the island was home to giraffes, sand and mountain gazelles, eland, red deer, oryx, other types of antelope / deer, ostriches, hyenas and cheetah and thousands of gazelles. The tour lasted about 1.5 hours.

3 hour drive from Dubai this is my pre lenten holiday treat. The hotel's website is sadly lacking a proper map, but still even the directions may seem to be a no brainer, still not a reason to have a crapy map. It may not be the wow hotel in sight, but the beach was fantastic. It is possible to walk quite a way along the beach past the neighbouring hotel (the Dhafra Beach Hotel, which seemed completely empty). The only disappointing thing in the room was the mattress - a cheap foam one that was fairly rock hard. But then to sum it up, i would definitely choose the Danat Resort over the Desert Islands Resort though since the beach is so much better and the price extremely lower (Dhs 700 B&B per night versus Dhs 1,350 B&B per night).

One the best & funky decorative restaurants in town, it's like a pop culture Leb restaurant. I love the Zaroob Cocktail but it was really huge, their falafel were crunchy on the outside, moist on the inside- the portions are generous. And they have a great Shisha. The place is open 24 hrs.The only bad thing is that the service took forever.

This time no food at Grocers but I told my friend that we need to try the coffee. At the cafe, they have the siphon coffee maker (a bottle with hot water that filters a jumble of fresh coffee beans). We tried the Honduras beans from El Filo farm. The coffee was smooth & not that bitter like an espresso or American brewed coffee. Walking away from jones was tough. Especially when I saw the case of fresh gelatos: butterscotch, hazelnut, and caramelized fig.

We ate here with friends last weekend and we were the only ones in the entire restaurant and it was already 9pm. The food took a long time to come and even the attendees just suddenly disappered. The rissotto was superb and the desserts to die for.The beef carpaccio was served with anchovies, olives, nuts. The food was good but we have to ask the staff to turn down the 80's music because was so loud we couldn't hear each other from across the table. Expected, it did turn into a nightspot later but we were still having dinner.

This location is very good if you have business to conduct at the exhibition center. There are quite a few embassies, including the United States one, located in the immediate area. Also, the location is good if you have an early flight out from the airport.

There were some problems with the wireless signal on my bedroom. It was going on and off later in the evening. My suggestion was just to have additional wireless access points to ensure that the signal is strong enough. The highest floor of the building is the private residence of the Sheikh who owns the building. There is also a helipad on the top of the building that can be used for transport.

How cool is cool? We're checked in at this funky hotel. The hotel part begins from the 18th floor the lower floors are for office space. You need to handover your passport for making a copy/scan of it, which is the usual process in the UAE, and a credit card.I had the bedroom with a nice bed, another TV set, and some macaroons on the table by the mirror. The view of the “royal” island, where some work was done was nice.

Lan Kwai Fong !!! Don't upset that little chinese lady and the 3 large warriors at the entrance.

Ok I will be nice. I think this is the only promising Vapiano that I've ever been to.The place looks very inviting. Restaurants here in Dubai are starting to all look the same with their minimalistic appearance and modern scene. I like this Vapiano bec they have counters of cooks that make your order in front of you & a separate smokers section mini cafe. Food wise: pasta is ok. I think it's italian pretending not to be considered fast food.
