I have stayed here for business and pleasure many times. Great hotel and nice location on Yas Island. Gets busy at the weekends and over any special events happening on the island. Breakfast is big and sumptuous and is heaving over EID or National Day. I have never seen some people load their plates up so much for brekkie and then leave most of it to waste!! There are several good restaurants, the steak restaurant is good and does what it says on the tin. I love the underground style bar with the concrete ceiling. Very funky and a nice terrace to sit out on in the winter months. You can get excellent rates as the island is quiet unless there is an event on. Staff are friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend making a visit for a weekend break or if you are working on the island and need a place to rest your head.

Great hotel to stay at if you are visiting or working at ADNEC. Very relaxed and informal atmosphere, mostly business travelers staying here. Lovely big pool and terrace area. Great lounge bar on the roof which gets busy in the winter. Always a good venue after big events at ADNEC. The rooms are quite basic and a bit dreary but do the job. They have a nice little shop where you can buy sandwiches and snacks from as there is no room service, makes it more affordable too. There are lots of funky and quirky touches around the hotel which is refreshing to see in the UAE alongside all the fancy pants hotels.

I have been here for both lunch and dinner. It is an average Italian with the usual suspects on the menu. Slightly over priced for what the restaurant actually delivers. I suppose you are paying for the name. The food is good but nothing special. They have a private room which is good for business style lunches and dinners. The decor is nice and welcoming. They have a musician that plays a night which is a nice touch. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area, but don't listen to all the hype.

Great place to watch sports. Always busy if a big game is on, so get down there early! Brings together food from New Zealand, Australia and South Africa, hence the name. Not much to choose from if you are a veggie, but plenty of sumptuous meats from around the globe if you are a carnivore. Ribs and steak are my husbands favourite. Always a fun atmosphere, a must try if you are down this end of town.

One of the few places open during Ramadan for lunch at the weekend. Had a lovely catch up with a friend, nice salads and finished with a naughty chocolate fondant dessert. Food was excellent quality and generous portions. The desserts were huge and we couldn't finish them. Fresh juices were also tasty and I had a gorgeous Moroccan mint tea. I love the decor in these cafe's, it is so different from most places in Dubai. The atmosphere is always friendly and inviting and makes you want to come back again and again. I don't frequent them enough, and will definitely be back soon.

DUCTAC Theatre - Went to see the stage show Cats and was pleasantly surprised. The whole show was excellent with top class choreography, acting and singing. The theatre is great with spacious seats and leg room and not huge so you get great view from any seat in the house. The only let down for the performance was the sound on a few occasions which seems to happen at every show I go to in this country, some of the poor singers had no mics for their entire songs, felt a bit sorry for them. The theatre also let loads of people sit on the stairs in the gangways next to the exits, which is not only a fire hazard but also effected the performance as the "Cats"came down the stairs for one of the songs. This always happens in this production and one of the performers tripped over bags and people sitting in the aisles. When anyone left for a toilet break they also had to climb over hoards of people and their luggage! Bizarre, but not unusual behaviour for Dubai I suppose. Ductac is an excellent addition to the arts scene in Dubai and I hope to see many more fabulous productions here!

Went to Blue Elephant for a Thursday evening brunch to celebrate a friends Birthday. Food was decidedly average and I wouldn't rush back. Whether this reflects on the restaurant as a whole I'm not sure, or it could just be the average quality of a buffet. I tried the coconut soup which didn't taste of anything, followed by a variety of noodle dishes and fried stuff. The desserts were awful, I think I had a chocolate something which didn't taste too bad. Service was good and the vino was flowing nicely. Rotana were doing a promotion and we got some scratch cards which revealed a night stay at some of the local hotels. A nice touch, but as they are all the local ones and not the nicer ones out of town I don't think anyone has take advantage of the offers. Maybe worth a try when you are ordering fresh food from the a la carte menu, but I wouldn't rush back for the stagnant buffet.

As a Nobu fan I went to try the brunch and was a little disappointed. Had I not experienced several fabulous dinners here I may have thought differently. The champagne was flowing, plenty of food and the quality was not bad. However, the service wasn't great we had to ask several times what the different dishes were that were served and what sauces went with each dish. Usually the service is impeccable. The food was not as good quality compared to my other visits which usually leave me reeling for more. They did make special food for those at the table whom had specific dietary requirements and were happy to give extra dishes when requested. For me, there was just something missing. I wouldn't go back for the brunch, but would definitely eat there again for dinner. The photo is of the fab dessert display, these were excellent.

This place was so much fun, we went for a friends birthday and had a great time. Food was average but was nice and it was hilarious with the bibs and hammers. I think it's a place you go to as a group rather than a romantic night for 2. The top deck is cool for just drinks too if you don't fancy eating. The boat does move a little especially when speed boats go past so if you get motion sickness easily you may want to take a tablet first. The whole atmosphere was fun and inviting and the decor adds to the experience too. Defo worth a try, just don't expect gourmet seafood of the highest quality and you'll be fine!

In my opinion the best pub in Dubai. Always a great atmosphere, very warm and friendly. They used to have an Irish singer/guitarist on a Wednesday which was awesome and we often go to the Quiz Nights on a Tuesday. The Quiz is so much fun, questions aren't too hard and there are always a few prizes to be won. Food is also very good. Only negative comment is that it's very smokey inside, I always leave stinking of smoke! but until Dubai bans smoking in all inside venues like most of Europe, that won't change. They have an outside garden/terrace area in the winter which adds another element to what is the best Irish pub in town!
