Oh boy, this isn't going to be pretty.
Firstly, I have to say that I've enjoyed Ruth Chris' food for many yrs now and just spent my 3rd UAE Thanksgiving dinner there last night introducing visiting European visitors and old friends living here to the Thanksgiving concept so I thought this would be a great evening with good food. Well, the food was good, but the service was beyond crazy.
Special Thanksgiving menu was 325AED including 2 glasses of wine which wasn't bad but not cheap either. We were 8 ppl and for some reason, the mgmt decided to scale down the portions per person to a few thin slices of turkey, tiny individual pots with about 3 tablespoons of sweetpotato mash (they gave us 6 pots for 8 people so not everyone got one), a half filled tiny pot of cranberry sauce pp (everyone requested more), 4 plates of greenbeans to be shared (of course), and 6 small muffins that were supposed to be the stuffing (again shared by 8 ppl). Not only did they not provide nearly enough food per person, but they didn't bother to check if we had enough to drink so our glasses were either empty or nearly empty during the 4 hr meal.
When desert came (only 1 choice which was a cheescake), they served 4 guests and kept saying the others will come out soon (took nearly 20 mins and asking the server numerous times) before anyone could eat together. It was painful. IT WAS A SET MENU! Why in the world would they serve us in segments like that so some people finished their food before others got enough? Thanksgiving is all about the food and having it in abundance so this was a really cheap blow .
Several of us let the 3 managers know about the problems on NUMEROUS occasions, got increasingly upset (some of the guests had to leave to catch their flight and requested separate checks to do so which was another painful experience), and finally reluctantly got another portion of food (they emphasized at no charge (!!)) and 2 cheap bottles of sparkling wine (not champagne) which I had to argue not to pay for given we were constantly waiting for their staff to serve us or respond to a request of any kind.
I am sooo disappointed with this restaurant and was really hoping to love it since it is right by where we live and we had had such good experiences in the other Ruth Chris in the Monarch hotel over the years. I really regret talking this chain up to friends and ruining our special holiday with having to constantly get upset throughout the meal. Ugh.
