The Meydan Hotel
03/04/2012

One of the best hotels I have been to in the UAE! Its so easy to reach there using the normal signboard directions. However, the entrance could be pretty confusing. We missed our first parking turn towards to hotel and ended up going through the second one which leads to the Meydan racecourse which was closed halfway due to construction. There was a nonstop 9 hours meeting sponsored by KPMG in their meeting halls which was huge and perfect for such meetings. We used to get complimentary breakfast & snacks along with buffet lunch from the restaurant (forgot name!) which was my food heaven!

India Palace Restaurant
03/04/2012

This is by far the best Indian Restaurant I have been to. They have a great location overseeing the waters from their private cabana type tables which are always so booked! The restaurant in itself however is huge! and it is crazy packed by Arabs and Emiratis even on Sunday afternoon for lunch! Luckily, there are enough waiters to serve the customers. And the decor truly depicts Indian royal lavishness and culture. Had their chicken & paneer makani. The paneer was so much better than the chicken one! Also, tried their gulab jamun & lemon mint drink. Great place to dine in DFC!

Caesars Restaurants & Confectionaries
03/04/2012

Caesars make the worlds best cake without doubt! It's not great design wise but the softness & richness of the cake is nonparallel to its competitors. I went for a birthday get together at their mankhool branch which is a restaurant too having a huge seating area. The staff was very friendly and didn't mind us making noise at all. We tried their butter chicken, garlic naan & palak paneer; all being great at really reasonable prices!

Pizza Pub
03/04/2012

Can't believe one more great place being left of unreviewed! This place has by far the best pastas I have ever had. I go back for more so very often. Avoid their pizzas, they're no biggie. But their red sauce pasta & spicy chicken arabiata are to absolutely amazing! Its cheaper to buy the pastas (if 2 or more people are dining) in a combo where you pay around AED42-48 for 2 pastas, 2 cokes/water & garlic bread or salad rather than paying individually. The service however is really slow especially on busy days with there been only one cook & waiter present!

Chinese Village
03/04/2012

Agree with lulu. Love this place! This was our fav winter hangout. Food and sheesha are both reasonable. Enjoyed our dimsums & barbeque chicken. However, their crispy thread chicken was a nightmare. It was just a big huge nest of thread noodles all over with hardly any chicken pieces! The service is good. We wanted couch seating outdoor when it was jam packed, the waitress moved us as soon as the space got empty. The location, prices & sheesha make up for the lack of quality food. and yes the washrooms are sooo far. One needs to walk way inside the complex.

Al Farooj Fresh
03/04/2012

This farooj branch is located inside the Union Coop of Al Wasl road. Its way behind due to which sometimes shoppers and diners just end up having fast food at McDonalds & Subways (at the entrance of Union Coop). Even though Al Farooj is a fast food joint, I prefer it in comparison to MCD's or Subways as the chicken is fresh compared to those two places. The cheapest shawarma is at AED6 I think. I mostly have their shawarma wrap or fantasy sandwich. Healthier option available, satisfying the stomach while being very light on the pockets. Al Farooj all the way!!

Tim Hortons
03/04/2012

Am I the only one to think this place is highly over-hyped? Other than their so much raved about French Vanilla, I don't like a single thing at this place. I guess the cheap prices make up for it. I have tried both the muffins and donuts in chocolate & double chocolate, I much rather prefer Krispy Kreme to it. And the word BAD is not enough to describe their terrible wrap sandwiches. Probably, next time will try their timbits that might change my mind. For now, I will just give a pass to this franchisee trying to cash in through their Canadian name & fame..

Barbecue Delights
03/04/2012

We tried a platter worth AED300+ of prawns, chicken & mutton tikka, chicken & mutton kababs, fish, pulao, raita amongst 7 people and we still had leftovers of pulao. Food was well worth the price. We went on a Sunday for lunch at 4pm and they took half an hour to serve us. This branch is soo much better compared to their oud metha branch where the food is of much mediocre quality!
